Vai: "Reading" at the library

The kids and I went to the National Library today.
Anya enjoyed the trip a lot!
As for Vai, other than checking out the books, playing horsie on the library's kiddy chairs and laying on the carpet (!), he went through pictorial books together with me too.

Vai: Messy Mealtime

Other than using the spoon, Vai likes to 'hand-pick' his rice, put some into his mouth, occasionally drop some on the table and down to the floor!
Yes, mealtimes have nearly always been pretty messy with this little guy.
Though I almost always tell him how it's not right to throw (or flick or drop) his food, I'm usually not too fussed about the overall mealtime mess. Really, it's easier to clean his mealtime mess than to 'force' him to eat his meal well. |

Anya : Practice makes perfect (reading chinese)

Anya started learning chinese only in January this year, ie. when she started going to nursery school. And, to our amazement, she already knows quite a bit of mandarin by now.

Basic Baby Signing by Anya

Anya picked up this simple baby sign language from the DVD she watched with other kids during our Chinese New Year trip to Malacca, Malaysia.
And from then on, she often goes through the different signs and lets me know what each of them means.

Vai: Self-feeding

Vai's exactly 1,5 years old today!
And for dinner, he went and picked his own spoon from the drawer, and somehow he chose the 'big' soup spoon!
Anyway, he sat on an IKEA stool I've placed on our dining chair. It's his first time dining on our table, and looks like he enjoyed being like a 'bigger' kid in the house, hehe.
Oh btw, American Idol was on at the time, which explains why he paused to join in the clap, before continuing with his meal! |

PS: Towards the end, Vai says, 'Tiga', which basically is Indonesian for 'Three' (as in 'one, two, ... three!' then jump! Hehe. |

Anya - Flying Fox Experience @ Jakarta

During our holiday in Jakarta, the resort where we stayed overnight apparently had the climb-and-jump 'flying fox' facility, free for all guests.
And to my surprise, I saw Anya - then 3.5 years old - went to join the queue!
She had the climbing gears put on her, saw a few others went before her, climbed the high ladder ALL BY HERSELF and went for the JUMP!
Simply way beyond what we've ever imagined she could ever do!
