“Thanks” to today’s gadgets, more and more kids tend to say, “I don’t know what I’m good at. I don’t know what I like. I’m not interested in anything actually.” (But somehow they are interested …

Five seconds of fame

1 June 2005 | Posted in: In the Media | No Comment

Anya had her very first ‘official photo shoot‘ last month and here is the page where she gets her 5 seconds of fame in Motherhood magazine, June issue. Hehe.

And btw, those are her newborn photos (our personal collection) in the magazine’s May issue.

Growing independence

30 May 2005 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

Anya is SO into self-feeding lately and I just have to animate her photos! Hehe.

Being a ‘beginner’ in this area, only about 20% of the spoon’s content goes into the mouth successfully though! The rest sort of ends up EVERYWHERE else!

While we’re clearing our stuff

27 May 2005 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

Yeah yeah yeah … it’s nearly 2 months since we’ve moved into our new home and YET there’re still boxes in our storeroom waiting to be cleared.

AND, if it wasn’t because of some ‘misplaced’ documents that we desperately need right now, those boxes would probably be stuck in there for much longer.

Anyway, this is Anya wearing my old red bandana I found in one of the boxes!

Anya : 14.5 months

> Her top and bottom molars are coming out. Not sure if this is the cause of her recent annoying ‘hobby’ called ‘let’s-spew-some-food-all-over-the-place-and-make-mommy-go-nuts!’

Lately, her spewing episodes got better, though! To my DELIGHT!

> She’s completely weaned and is drinking 500ml – 700ml of formula milk, on average (Yipee!!)

> She likes to play with our pens and pencils. And so we got her crayons and a drawing book. She loved it! (Err, she sometimes draws on the floor too! I’d usually then give her a killer look and told her to draw only on paper. She’d then look at the floor, point at it and say, ‘No..no..no..no..no!!’

*smile*

Tennis: an early introduction

22 May 2005 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

Sometimes we let Anya play with our tennis racket. She’d lift it up, fiddle with its strings or play with the rubbery handle.

We parents can only encourage our kids to pick up different sports and nurture that sporty side of them.

And you never know. A simple hobby could lead to … say, world tournaments!

The value of Time

21 May 2005 | Posted in: Inspirational | No Comment

My grandparents came to visit us for a few days. And, yes, … in their old age, they both STILL love to travel. They’re blessed with good health and I’m really glad Anya still gets to know her great grandparents (Their age difference is 84 years!!).

My grandpa told me that at their age, they’d like to enjoy life while they still can. They love to travel and that’s why they still go around the world so very often to visit their kids and other relatives. They go on cruises too. They hardly stay in one city for more than 3 months!

People live their lives according to how they understand the concept of time. Lots of people spend most of their adult lives working really hard. Perhaps, 16 – 18 hours a day.

And (consciously or unconsciously) It’s  because they believe ‘Time is money’ and that ‘Money is everything’.

There’s even a saying here in Singapore, ‘No Money, No Honey!’. (read: money comes first, then … love!’).

Rev. DR. Stephen Tong shared this concept of time and its value, that I find is very true.

> Time is Life. One has time only when one is alive.

> Time is Opportunity. Only when we’re still alive that we have the opportunity to live our live to the fullest, the opportunity to make the most important decision concerning our own eternal life.

> Time is a Record, because every single thing that we do in life doesn’t go unrecorded.

We’re all busy everyday. Taking care of our kids. Working. Studying. Running our hectic lives day by day. And I just hope that we are all reminded of the value of time, how we’ve been using our time so far, and how we’ll use it more wisely from now onwards.

It’s about passion

20 May 2005 | Posted in: Photography | No Comment

Photography somehow has been an integral part of our family. We take photos whenever, wherever. More often than not, we take photos not because we have to, but because we want to.

Photography is about freezing a particular moment so it lasts ‘forever’.

The birth of a baby. The tears of a todller. The innocent smile of a kid. And it may not always be about someone we know. Perhaps, a lone man in the park. An old, forgotten shophouse. Fallen autumn leaves. Each object of photography has a story, and through these capture moments, stories are shared.

I sure hope that through this site and the photos featured in it, I can reach out and share to people more about the everyday things we all may face in life.

The ups and downs. The joys and tears. The beauty of life and the many blessings that we often take for granted.

Life in the eyes of a child

18 May 2005 | Posted in: Inspirational | Comments Off on Life in the eyes of a child

All kids live in the moment. They enjoy life as its mystery unfolds, moment by moment.

As adults, life of course is more complicated (difficult colleagues / clients, bills to pay, housework waiting to be done, kids refusing to eat their meals!).

But I guess we too can see more of life’s joy and blessings when we see life’s ups and downs as part of life’s great adventure.

Seeing the goodness in all things that happen in our lives. Learning from each mistake and moving forward. Enjoying every moment.

Let Our Kids LEARN So Much More from Playing Sports

28 December 2017 | Posted in: Parenting | No Comment

Playing sports should never just be about ‘doing something sporty’.
It offers plenty of learning opportunities, err …  IF we parents allow our child to experience them.
Like,
– Pack own equipments and water bottles
The very basic requirements …

Kids and their views

Lately I’ve somehow been thinking about kids and the way they value and view things around them.
And here’re some of my thoughts.
Little children heavily depend on adults, especially their parents and their main caregivers, when …

Marriage: Conflicts are Normal

Conflict is an integral part of married life.
