“Thanks” to today’s gadgets, more and more kids tend to say, “I don’t know what I’m good at. I don’t know what I like. I’m not interested in anything actually.” (But somehow they are interested …

Event: Good Friday and Easter 2007

4 April 2007 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

If you’re an Indonesian (or if you know one) living in Singapore , I’d really like to extend this invitation to you.

It’s for this coming Friday and Sunday. A Good Friday and Easter Service, held in Indonesian language.

Here are the details:

Friday, 6 April, 4.30pm
Singapore EXPO, Conference Halls A – E, Foyer 1, 2nd level

Sunday, 8 April, 5 pm
True Way Presbyterian Church (next to Queenstown MRT)

Feel free to pass along the information to other Indonesians you know.

Hope to see many of you Indonesians there!

PS: And oh, if you have little ones, you can always bring them along. There’s a baby room for parents and their small children, and the ‘event’ will be projected onto the screen for all to watch and listen.

Growing

2 April 2007 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

I like these shots, taken earlier today, because they show …

>> how Vai’s only as high as Anya’s shoulder right now (very soon he’ll probably be as tall as her, if not taller!)

>> the kids’ heights at the moment (by comparing their heights against the lines at the gate, eg. Anya’s now approximately as high as the sixth horizontal line)

Little kids constantly grow (unlike us adults!), especially babies, and so personally I like taking photos of them against something else, so I have a ‘direct comparison’ that will remind me of their ‘size’ at the time the photos are taken.

As you can see, these little ones won’t stay tiny forever …

Vai’s first bruise

1 April 2007 | Posted in: Daily, Food & Health | No Comment

Ah. Now there it is. Vai’s first bruise.

He’s been actively climbing and pulling himself up on nearly EVERYTHING these past 2 weeks and today he kinda … tumbled down while standing and holding onto his Baby Gym. Got himself a little bruise and a teeny scratch on his left eyelid.

Good thing I didn’t panic when it all happened. I quickly picked him up, hugged, breastfed and compressed the bruise with ice cubes wrapped in clean cloth.

Sigh.

Him being so active and all, I can already imagine how he’d sure be getting lots of knocks and falls.

Yes we all know little accidents happen and more of than not, they happen in a flash and are unavoidable.

But when I saw him today with this little purplish bump on his eyelid, ah … I couldn’t help but felt all soft inside. Felt like giving him lots of hugs and kisses to make him feel better (though he most probaly felt completely okay real soon afterwards!)

Sigh.

Gotta get myself prepared for more in the years to come, I guess.

And in the mean time, Vai continues to look like he’s wearing a nice shade of purple eyeshadow now!

Making : Snow-cone man

30 March 2007 | Posted in: Crafts & Activity Ideas for Kids | No Comment

I have so much leftover cotton wool at home and I thought it’d be nice if we can make some sort of a ‘snow-man’ or something out of it.

And so we used:
>> Foam cup
>> Glue (smearing it all over the top and sides)
>> Cotton wool
>> Triangular-shaped sponge for the nose (Anya dipped it in watercolour some time ago, so it’s kinda pinkish now)
>> Coloured paper (black for the eyes, brown for the mouth, blue for the hat)

When Anya’s done with it, I honestly think it looks more like a ‘Snow-cone man‘ now. Heh heh.

Motherhood – April 2007 : Blog your kids!

29 March 2007 | Posted in: In the Media | No Comment

Oh btw, the April issue of Motherhood is out with a little write-up on us (‘Blog your kids’ article).

PS: Frankly, I’m still trying to get used to the ‘graphic designer’ part. Hehe. Especially because I’ve always seen myself as more of a PR / marketing / events person, while my hubby is THE designer.

[Once you’ve checked out the article, you’ll know what I mean. Heh.]

Playground buddies

Vai got his hands and feet on the playground for the first time today.

And Anya. Haha. She was SO happy now that Vai can join in the fun!

Parenting : Discovering our Baby’s Temperament

20 July 2012 | Posted in: Parenting, Pregnancy & Babyhood | No Comment

Brie is 14 months old tomorrow!
And I’ve been seeing more and more of her stronger ‘temperament’ in the past two months!
In the past two weeks especially, she’s been particularly more fussy than usual.
I assume it’s …

Urgh. Not getting what I want is … HARD!

17 July 2009 | Posted in: Inspirational, Parenting | 12 Comments

Kids have wants. And the reality is, they don’t always get them, because perhaps what they ask for and want is harmful, unnecessary, or is simply not good for them. There could be plenty more …

Tips: Traveling by Plane with a Baby (and Older Kids!)

16 July 2011 | Posted in: Daily, Parenting, Pregnancy & Babyhood | 2 Comments

This trip to Jakarta was baby Brie’s first ever trip on an aeroplane (come to think of it, it’s her first trip anywhere outside of Singapore! =)
So I thought, since it’s also our first time …

Sunday’s Food for Thought – Spouse’s strengths and weaknesses

Many people enter marriage with idealistic thoughts of how a marriage ‘should be’.
That there’ll be hardly any arguments. That all exchanged words will always be romantic and sweet. That the home will always be neat …

Thoughts : Relationships

I was SO inspired by today’s sharing at our Women’s Fellowship.
Here’re some thoughts I’d like to share with you.
>> Family is an institution, a unit, that God Himself has established. And at the very core, …

Yes, Kids. Daddy Loves You.

Kids,
You may read this years or decades from today, but I feel I need to write about this for you.
Did you know that Daddy loves you?
Did you know that when you were all little, and …
