Good Friday Gospel Rally – ‘The mystery of the death of God’s Son’

17 March 2008 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

While most people are more familiar with the idea of Christmas, many may not realise that it’s actually what’s happened on Good Friday some two thousand years ago that has made a huge life-changing impact on the lives of so many people on earth.

Marriage : before and after

17 March 2008 | Posted in: Marriage & Relationships | No Comment

Someone once said that once you’ve decided the person with whom you’ll spend the rest of your life with, basically there’s ‘no turning back’.

If we’ve made a ‘bad decision’, then we (unfortunately) will live with the consequence of our choice.

I was told too that before we get married, we’re to open our eyes real wide (read: observe the relationship, learn as much as possible about the person, and work together on ironing things out).

But after we’re married, we’re to ‘close one eye’ (read: learn to focus only on the good of our spouse and not on the bad).

It’s about continually working things out. Respecting and loving. Openly sharing our deepest thoughts, worries, concerns, pains and joy.

The thing is, it’s easier to write about it than to consistently do it everyday.

But then again, though there’ll surely be ups and downs, it’s never impossible, with God as the Lord of the household.

To hubby: Happy Birthday! *smile*

Kiddy rides at Toa Payoh

16 March 2008 | Posted in: Crafts & Activity Ideas for Kids | No Comment

We’ve seen these little cars and motorbikes swerving by before, but we’ve never tried it out until last night.

It’s one of those outdoor kiddy rides where the kids need to only rest their foot on a ‘button’ to get the vehicle going and have fun driving around the cordoned off area.

There’re about fifteen or so cars and motorbikes altogether and we paid just THREE dollars per kid for a good fifteen minutes drive!

And oh, here’s what we love about it most.

They (apparently!) have a ‘remote-controlled’ car too, specially designed for smaller kids who obviously can’t drive yet!

So last night, Daddy had a good walk right behind Vai’s car and manually ‘controlled’ where it’s going.

It was all good last night.

The weather was nice and cool and everyone’s had their dinner too (read: hunger often leads to unnecessary crankiness).

And so yes, the kids had so much fun there! (and wished their ‘fifteen minutes’ never ends!)

PS: The ‘lady in charge’ said they’re basically there every Saturday, Sunday and on the eve of Public Holidays.

Sunday’s Food for Thought – Over confidence

16 March 2008 | Posted in: Inspirational | No Comment

We’re all unique individuals and we all have God-given talents and potentials that we need to continually discover, explore and develop.

The thing is, it is possible too that we – knowing our own abilities, gifts and talents – become somewhat over-confident.

Thinking that we’re better than others in many ways that we start looking down on others and relying heavily on self. Thinking that with our high qualifications and academics we can ‘fully control’ our own lives.

They who are smart, talented and (consciously and unconsciously) overly proud of themselves will tend to find it hard to accept other people’s feedback and inputs. However constructive.

Let’s personally be responsible to God for all the talents He has blessed us with, while at same time be mindful of our heart and mind.

The Finder – March 2008 : Birthday party planning tips!

15 March 2008 | Posted in: In the Media | No Comment

The Finder is a magazine, distributed for free and read mostly by expats living in Singapore, full of tips and guides to eating places, goods and services and stuff to do here in Singapore.

And when one day Michelle, its Managing Editor, wrote and asked if I’d like to contribute to her magazine on kids-related topics, I thought WOW, something nice and different that I’d like to explore and do!

The write-up is featured in their March issue and it’s out!

And oh, if you’re visiting this site for the very first time, here’s a big warm WELCOME to you!

Let’s go to Vivo!

14 March 2008 | Posted in: Crafts & Activity Ideas for Kids, Daily | No Comment

The weather’s nice and sunny today. A bit too glary, in fact.

And the kids (all came prepared!) had some fun at the playground and waterplay area at Vivo City, level two.

After lunch, the kids continued on playing by themselves while us mommies chatted away.

And it was then when I saw Vai walking towards me with his index finger inside his mouth. Didn’t think about it much till he stood right in front of me, opened his mouth and showed me … teeny weeny pebble grains all over his mouth!

I was like, WHAT!

After scooping whatever grains I could get my fingers on from his tongue, gums and teeth, I used some wet wipes to clean the inside of his mouth.

And after telling him firmly how he’s not supposed to put anything into his mouth, he went off playing again. Like nothing much has happened.

*rolls eyes*

Video : Vai – Name Game

14 March 2008 | Posted in: Daily, Video | No Comment

Now that Vai – 18.5 months old – can repeat what I ask him to say, it’s become somewhat easier for us to teach him names and words!

And this is him, going through the names in our family! Hehe.

I just love his baby voice!

Click here to watch the clip.

PS: Oh, and if you’re wondering about what’s happened to Anya’s voice now that it sounded so hoarse in the video, well it’s because she’s had cranky moments earlier on that resulted in THE voice.
