Just a monthly pictorial update on our little girl's growth

  47 Months

My weight: 15,2 kg (as at 12 Feb 08)

  Notes from Mommy:

- Considering how she hardly wanted to speak English when she started school, it's amazing to see her progress (and how a child really absorbs what's being taught to her like a sponge!). She remembers her english and chinese rhymes, poems and songs by heart!

- She often asks to buy something when we go pass a shop. Sometimes she'd understand when I say no. But there are (of course) times when she'd whine and cry real loudly (as everyone stares at me!). If it's something that I feel I shouldn't buy for her, then I won't budge. But if it's something that I think is quite okay to buy (coz I do sometimes give what she asks), I'd get it for her.

Just part and parcel of her growing up and me being a parent.

My 'just woke up' look, hehe ... (20 Feb)

What I made (with teacher's help!) during Sunday School (10 Feb).
The Bible story: Jesus and His disciples on a boat, as He calmed the storm

Had my very first horse-riding experience during our Malacca Trip! (6 - 8 Feb 08)

Btw, Vai and me came home from the trip with our noses kinda runny and blocked.

As at 30 Jan:

- Before every nursery class kids go to their classes, they all gather together in the 'Music Room'. Usually Anya would INSIST that I stay and say bye when she enters her class (ie. I stand near the classroom window, wave goodbye and then leave).

After confirming with her how it's time for me to take her to ONLY the Music Room, she finally agreed today. Ah, the start of 'further independence'. And somehow, as I saw her walked out of the music room together with her friends, I felt I 'missed' her already. My kid is growing up and is doing so many things WITHOUT me already ...

- On average, she's been doing pretty well emotionally. Not much tantrums, though of course there are moments when she didn't get much sleep the night before and started demanding unreasonable requests (like, I want to watch TV RIGHT NOW!).

Well, at least it doesn't happen everyday now.

  As at 23 Jan:

- I'm slowly picking up how to speak in English. Still not comfortable with speaking the language to friends or teachers much though, and so yes I do tend to be rather quiet at school

- While with Mommy, I've started speaking some english sentences (though still kinda 'broken, hehe), like: 'my hands so cold', 'I want this', 'so far away', etc.

- I do help Mom with taking care of Vai, like looking after him and holding his hand when he roams around after we finish our meals (and Mom tries to eat her dinner at the food court near our place)

- Weight: 15,1kg

  Cuddle cuddle!

Starting Mon, 14 Jan, I no longer cry when Mommy says good bye and goes back home! Yipee!
(I still repeatedly - though much less frequently - remind her to pick me up after school though)

  45 Months
  That's 3 years and 9 months! Heh.

Riding on a real police motorbike (Vivo City, 5 Jan 08)

Vai: What's this stuff stuck on your uniform?
Anya: My badge ... with my name and contact info, just in case the teachers need to get in touch with Mommy.

My nursery school started on 2 Jan 08! And this is me on my way home from school!

Enjoying my get-together with my families in Jakarta! (20 Dec 07 - 1 Jan 08)

And during my stay at Putri Duyung Resort, I tried out their Flying Fox!!
Click here to watch me do the big Jump! Heh.

  >> Weight: 14.2kg (as at 12 Dec). No change since last month when I got my eyes checked.

>> Had my chicken pox vaccination today. The doctor at our usual GP was a stand-in doctor. He looked rather young and he did the jab on my ABDOMEN. Before he did it, Mom asked if that's okay because usually it's done on the arm, buttock or thigh. The doctor said it's okay because it's done to the skin, not to the muscle.

I was very brave, and didn't cry during the jab. My eyes went watery though and I nearly cried when he pulled out the needle. I cried a painful cry afterwards though.

Mom's not too happy with the doctor because afterwards she saw him reading the 'instruction leaflet' and calling someone, asking about the jab! The doctor also said something on the phone insinuating that he did it at the 'wrong place'!

After he hung up the phone, Mom did say something to the doctor about what she's just heard. He said that it's fine to have it done on the abdomen. But since Vai's much younger, he'd do the the jab on his arm instead.

Our usual doctor called us later that afternoon, to ensure that we're all okay, and he did say that usually jabs on children are NOT done on the abdomen, because it's just too plain scary for the poor kid!

[Mom learned something: if you're not too comfortable with the doctor and the way he does things, do not let him carry out the procedure. Instead, postpone the appointment and see another doctor whom you're more comfortable with]

If the weather hadn't always been this wet everyday, Mom would've brought us for the jab on another day, seeing our usual doctor. We just had to get it done because we're leaving for Jakarta in 8 days time and since our aunt just recovered from chicken pox, it's best to get ourselves vaccinated and hence 'protected' from it.

  >> I got one rare opportunity today at Babies Prom 2007 (Saturday, 8 Dec). I got to CONDUCT the whole orchestra!

Here's the video clip.

Here's Uncle Peter Moore's book (with a CD inside) I got as a gift from being brave enough to get on stage and conduct the orchestra!

  44 Months

Mommy forgot to bring her keys! (6 Dec). And so the three of us (after Women Fellowship) were stuck outside (read: in the nearby neighbourhood and markets) for 4.5 hours, until Dad came home with his keys.

And this was me on the phone with Dad (Mom's phone battery happened to be 'dead' too at the time!)

  Me and my 'recently-dicovered-silly' face!

Hans is flying off to Sydney tomorrow!
And so here we are, enjoying our playtime together! (29 Nov)
Till we meet again, my good friend!

Went to see some nice Christmas decorations at Tanglin Mall (24 Nov).

Had real fun in playing with artificial snow afterwards!

Went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (21 - 23 Nov)

And this is me, having a GREAT time with Daddy at Cosmo's World (Berjaya Times Square).
(too bad we had to move on and visit other places after spending just an hour there)

Often like to act like the 'big sister' to Vai, eg.:

- quickly picking him up when he falls down
- always bringing toys and putting them inside her backpack for him to play later when we're outside
- feeding him meals and snacks (by hand or using a spoon)
- putting on and buttoning up his pyjamas

Mom said my Terrible Three days are a bit 'better' now! Yay! (dated: 12 Nov)

  43 Months

Yup I've been giving Mom and Dad some 'tough' times these past two weeks. BUT, when I'm happy, I AM really happy!

As you can see ... hehe ...

Going through some 'emotionally low' moments

  42 Months

A dayout at East Coast, while waiting for Daddy going for the karting competition (6 Oct)

  I'm now 14.4kg (as at 1 Oct 07)

Not that 'heavy', huh ... but I've gained 900grams since I got myself weighed a couple of months ago.

One big reason to dance and be happy!

Mom bought me a little 'Dora the Explorer' wallet (and tied a lanyard so I don't easily lose it) for me to put my EZ-LINK card inside!

And I've putting it around my neck wherever I go!

Total no. of teeth so far: twenty!
(And Vai apparently only has ten right now ... )

My very first 'Flower Girl experience'! (8 Sep 07)

  41 Months

Checking out the headpiece before my 'very-first-time-being-a-flowergirl' day tomorrow

Having fun at Vivo City's outdoor playground!

I can now recognise many brands of cars from looking at their 'symbols'! (it all started sometime in July)
eg. Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Honda, Hyundai ...

So, I've been busy calling out car names whenever I see them parked or on the road...

For three days in a row, starting on 8 August, I'm able to do these all by MYSELF:
- Take clothes off
- Get on the toilet seat and pee (and/or poo as well)
- Switch on the tap and take a shower (and wash myself from head to toe with shampoo and body soap!)
- Rinse my whole body
- Step on a stool so I can reach the basin, put on some tooth paste and brush my teeth (and tongue!)
- Gargle and rinse my mouth
- Towel my whole body till I'm (nearly) dry
- Put on my going-out clothes and undies
- Brush my hair
- Put on my socks and shoes

Mommy's so happy! Now that I'm more independent, she feels I've been such a great help (especially when we're rushing for time and Mom still needs to feed Vai and get him ready to go out).

Quick updates on me (as at 8 May):

> Had pretty rough "Terrible Three moments" these past few days.

> Loves to read out loud the numbers I see (on buses, cars, clocks, etc)

> Sits on the same dining table as Mommy and Daddy (but I sit on phonebooks so I can see my plate, hehe)

> Mastered riding my tricycle and am now learning how to ride a 'real' bike (two wheels with detachable training wheels)

> Still not yet potty trained at night (and so I wear Vai's diapers. Yup, they fit!)

> Drink milk 2x / day (about 450ml a day all in all)

> Can grab a can of drinks, go to the cashier and pay for it myself
