Reality vs. Online

12 December 2018No Comment

The book of Proverbs never fails to fascinate me as it reveals the truth to the very core. Often causing ‘a feeling of discomfort’ to the readers.

One of them is:
One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
Proverbs 13:7

The above seems to be ‘facilitated’ even more now that we have social media.

Happy images online, but relationship is broken in real life.

Fun images online, but a feeling of deep loneliness in real life.

Often we can’t truly know the ‘real’ situations others go through only from looking at their social media updates.

And I’m reminded today that :

>> we should learn not to judge / be envious towards others based on their online updates

>>  we should try to reach out to people ‘in real life’ … real meet-ups and chat face to face, encourage, spend time, interact with real people.

Food for thought?
