Wet and Cool Singapore!

2 February 20114 Comments

The weather has been so weird here in Singapore!

Weird, but nice in a way.

Breezy. Cool.ย I mean, we’re talking about the-usually-warm-and-sunny Singapore at 24-26 deg Celsius everyday, for the past few days!

[Okay, it’s NOT nice if it keeps on raining heavily for hours and days nonstop. But it hasn’t been quite that bad over these past few days]

And I notice how we’ve started doing the unusual here.

We wear long sleeves sometimes. We haven’t switched on our air-con for at least 2 weeks now! And, we put on jackets early in the morning when we send Anya to school!

It really doesn’t quite feel like we’re living in Singapore these days.

[As shown on weather.gov.sg on 1 Feb 2011]

This week we have two days of public holiday (Thursday and Friday) to celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY) here in Singapore, and the weather forecast has been wet, wet, wet throughout the week.

I have a feeling that many people (and shops) here wish to see more sunshine though. Especially this week when shops desperately need to clear their CNY goodies and decorations, and people are going around, visiting their relatives.

As for us, … well, we can’t always let the rain keep us at home all the time, can we? =)

So, with a list of groceries in our hands, Wilson and I told the kids, ‘Let’s bring out our umbrellas and take a walk in the rain!’.

And they both were like, ‘YAYYY!!’

Hehe.

They stepped on puddles and heard no complaints from mom =)

You see, as long as they’re in their sandals or clogs, and they could have a good shower afterwards, I’m game for some fun in the rain!

Btw, as we’re experiencing cool Singapore here, how is it like in the country you live in?

And how has the prolonged wet weather here affect you?

hi! i’m seeta from indonesia. i’m just blogwalking and suddenly bump into this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

indonesia’s weather is pretty much alike Singapore, it’s raining all the time lately. There’s always flood and hard wind, usually at night. It’s so rare remembering that we usually got like 50 sunshines each everyday. haha

But it’s good for the weather though, it’s cool and breezing just like u said, we don’t have to switch on the air-con, it’s good for the enviroment.

But i think the most important is we learn to prepare anything in advance, in case there will be hard rain or flood. So we become more aware to keep the enviroment clean and steady, going home before night, and staying home during night.

Oh no! Can’t imagine how scary it is for all of them living in those affected areas where Yasi will pass by!! I wouldn’t have known such updated details if you hadn’t left a comment here.

Thanks for sharing it here ya, Sis!

Yes, will keep them in prayers!

Something is definitely wrong with the weather all around the world. My friends in USA have been having -16C weather. way too cold.

Srinlanka that usually is quite tropical (similar to Sgp’s weather around 33C-ish) now is having a cool 18C weather.

Melbourne’s summer has been pretty good (relatively depending on whether you’re a summer person or a winter person, so pretty good if you are like me, a winter person). instead of having 40s throughout summer, we’ve been having only a few days of those 40-ish heat

Queensland has turned into a real disaster. My heart really goes out to Queenslanders. After a terrible flood disaster, a few cyclones hit them too. And today, they’re expecting Cyclone Yasi category 5 which is very destructive to sweep north Qld, around Cairns, Townsville those areas there… People have been evacuated and briefed about what’s going to happen. so this next 24 hours is very crucial moment as Yasi’s going to pass Qld. I’m in tears just listening to the Premier’s briefing this morning. Wind is expected at 320kmh. So they are warned that it’ll be very terrifying. They’ll hear really loud gushing of wind and the sight will be very scary.

    Anyway… keep Queenslanders in prayer.

Glad that Sgp is experiencing nice weather in this time of craziness as far as our weather world wide is concerned
