Anya and her ballet class updates
Sometimes I find it hard to believe that it’s already been about a year and three months since Anya started her first ballet class.
Once every week, and each session lasts for about 45 minutes.
And you know what, … she’ll be having her very first ‘exam’ in 2 weeks time!
She needs to remember her steps, move to a particular music, do her bending, pointing, balancing, everything … alone, in front of an examiner from overseas.
And if all goes well, she’d then move one level up, from pre-primary to primary level.
The biggest challenge for her, other than remembering the whole sequence and timing her moves correctly to the rhythm, is … figuring out for herself HOW to concentrate, balance on one foot while the other points towards the back, and stretch out her arms at the same time.
Tough one.
And the challenge for me is, … figuring out how to get ALL her hair UP in a bun, without using any hair clips as it’s apparently not allowed in exams (where possible, without slapping too much gel on her scalp too!)
Well.
As you can see from the picture at the top, I have YET to figure that one out.

So cute!!!! Can she be my baby!!! I would really want that cuteness. (kiss)
Henny:
nope … can’t use anything on the hair EXCEPT small black hairbands to tie the hair up in a bun, and the black ‘net’.
How like that? ๐
…
SK:
Thanks … ๐
Right now we’re trying to see how ‘serious’ she is about doing ballet … As she progresses, we’ll find out, I guess … ๐
Grace Koay:
As I read what you shared, I sort of imagined how it was like for your mom …haha … must’ve been tough for her! ๐
Ya, luckily your mom didn’t shave your baby forehead hair off, or otherwise you’d look like one of those kungfu masters in the chinese movies ๐
izzat aziz:
Thanks … ๐
She’s not stressed about it, neither do I … but I do wonder how she’ll do on the day of the exam ๐
She’s such a cutie. She must be loving ballet.
ga boleh pake hair pin, then pake bando aja or bandana, how? :))
Leonny, this post brought back childhood memories!
I used to go for ballet lessons when I was a young lass too, and I had a mob of hair that my mom needed to get up in a bun. As you said, no pins! Trouble is, I have little baby hair growing on my forehead, I don’t know why it is I was such a furry child! THat my mom almost wanted to shave all my baby forehead hair off! Luckily she didn’t! The examiners just laughed it off… But they get stricter as you progress to higher grades!

she look so cute, congratulation ๐
Peg:
Hi there … Anya first told me about trying out ballet when she was about 2yo … but we told her that she’d get to start when she’s 4 … so she started her ballet lesson sometime in August last year, when she was 4yo 5months.
I shared a little more about it here last year:
