The making of I’m a Mom video clip : Behind the Scenes
Anya and Vai so far had their share of being on the set and in front of the camera for magazine shoots (eg. Anya had her first shoot when she’s a year old, and Vai had his first shoot when he was six months old, both for the ‘Motherhood’ magazine)
Now last Saturday, it was slightly different.
Because this time round, the kids and I got in front of the camera, a video camera, TOGETHER for our first time.
And as anyone would’ve guessed, things can go rather unpredictable when kids are on the set!
[We were making a short video clip for an I’m a Mom advertising campaign and online contest that’s to be launched at the end of the month. When I can actually spill the beans later, I’ll share more of it ya *smile*]
Here’s what happened behind the scenes … pictorially (all were shot by Wilson)
I was the last one to be shot that day, out of the five blogger moms.
And as Anya watched Jess the make-up artist worked on my face and hair, she quietly asked, “Mommy, … errr can I have something on my face as well?’ hehe.
I thought kids are fine without any make-up, but when the make-up artist asked Anya to sit on the ‘high stool’ (just so that she could tidy up her hair and make her cheeks a little ‘rosier’), Anya looked at me and gave her little shy-yet-happy face. I guess she felt like a grown-up for a while there, hehe.
It was close to 2 hours when it’s (finally) our turn for the shoot.
We sat with the green screen at the background (for the editing people to superimpose images and graphics on it later) and the crew arranged the seats, the video camera, the lighting, the sounds, and everything else for another fifteen minutes or so.
[As recommended by the crews, I went WITHOUT my glasses! Good thing the crew placed a bright blue ‘cookie monster’ hand puppet near the camera, so at least I knew WHERE to look! Haha.]
Anyway, the kids were all happy and giggly in those first few minutes (when the crews were still preparing the set), BUT when it’s finally time for us to start the shoot, Vai wanted … to be with Daddy instead!
He made little noises, slouched, extended his arms towards Daddy. All sorts of things.
He just wanted to get down.
Unexpectedly, Anya was quite alright with the shoot! (and I thought she’d be the one who’d feel more uncomfortable in front of the camera and crews)
And boy … the crews, Wilson and I did ALL sorts of things to get Vai to cooperate.
His little toy cars. Chocolates. McDonald’s after the shoot. You name it.
But nothing worked.
In the end, we did the shoot anyway.
AND, I totally am curious about how the final edited video clip would look like. Haha.
Stay tuned for more …

Wearing contact lenses has its many benefits too I realise (like I need to dress up for formal occasions, it’s somewhat ‘better’ to not wear glasses .. ๐
Perhaps I should start look for contacts to occasionally wear … mmm …

Used to wear contacts when I was working fulltime … in front of the computer for more than 10 hours, in an air-con room .. and my eyesight got worse .. yikes! since then, I started wearing glasses …
and oh, coz I have astig, I need to ‘order’ my contacts rather than easily getting them off the shelf … I guess the thought of that doesn’t quite make me want to wear contacts …
mmm … perhaps I should have 2-3 pairs anyway ya … for formal occasions or something …
…………….
GRACE KOAY:
Hey Grace … thanks for voting!!! ๐
And so you CAN nominate my blog ?
I’ve had people telling me :
1. They still face captcha issues when nominating
2. That each blog URL is only to be nominated once (which is a bit weird, because how then do nuffnang determine the ‘top five nominees’ …
Do you understand how it all works?
I still don’t quite get it … *puzzled*
Thanks guys for the comments … *blush blush*
The focus of the blog entry was supposed to be on Vai’s response during the shoot … so I was kinda surprised when the comments were on a different ‘topic’ … ๐
Oh btw, the 20-or-so-seconds video clip will be online at the end of September (no, not on TV ๐ ) … part of an ad campaign’s online contest where you CAN vote ๐
Will share more when it’s out!
Suit suit… may I know you? (hehee)

Leonny – the make-up artist did a good job. Remember what they use so can buy and apply for yourself.
You know the only time I have make-up is ROM & Wedding lunch. Till now I still don’t know how to make-up at all. Shame on me.
Leonny, it was nice meeting you:) It seemed like we all had good experience that day except that my eldest boy was unable to join in the fun:( Your photos were well-taken.
Let’s wait to see the final edited outputs soon….
WOW Leonny you looked really good without those glasses!!! ๐ am also really curious how the final outcome might look like… like Vai, Tim was all happy and cooperative before the shoot but after waiting and running for over 2hrs he was bored and was super uncooperative during the shoot… ๐ we all had our share of challenges that day… ๐
You look really good!! Remember I once said 1 day you may be on TV? ๐
wow.. what an exciting experience… update more ya… ๐
You’re such a babe without your glasses Leonny! Ahh… don’t get me wrong, you still look sophisticated with your glasses on! ๐ Can’t wait to see the Ad!
Oh voted for you btw! How exciting… you’re right, so many bloggers, but you’re one of the best parenting blogs as far as I know… Good Luck!
Nice photo of u without glasses, ci Le. why don’t u wear contacts? less hassle, ga perlu bener2in kacamata yg melorot [due to our ‘asian’ noses] :p
Wow! How exciting!! You all looked so beautiful.
