A different kind of life
We walked past this alley whenever we want to go for one of Jakarta’s well-known noodle shops.
And along the dark corridor, you get to see different kinds of sights that tend to be hidden behind such a buzzing metropolitan city.
People sleeping soundly on a wooden table with just a cloth mat as his ‘bed’.
Women cooking in what looks more like a makeshift outdoor kitchen.
People selling fruits.
Little children playing near their mothers as they observe occasional passers-by.
…
My 30-second walk past this alley always makes me reflect on my own life and its many comforts I’m able to enjoy everyday. How can I even begin to complain about anything?

Yes – 101% agree! So I always remind myself I am consider more fortunate than others. Like every monday – I will watch Central 9pm show, Human Spirit. To motivate me to be more positive.

Sometimes a comfortable life unconsciously makes one forget how blessed and convenient one’s life already is, huh ?

Ya ya!! Bakmi Abun! 🙂 You’re good!
And I guess the saying ‘the more developed a society the more the people tend to complain’ is pretty much true ? (though not 100% applicable to ALL of course)
itu bakmi gg.kelinci bukan sih? yupp… esp. australian, they complain about everything and anything. They have no idea how blessed they are. even when they don’t have any income, there’s social welfare that the gov’t gave them. yet, they always complain it’s not enough. probably instead of giving them the dole, gov’t should just send them to indonesia, and see how they’ll survive
True! When Cayden grow up, i will send him to India or Vietnam to show him that in fact we are more fortunate than them. Don’t complain how bad is our life. Sigh… I have not been there since 7 years old. Luckily I travelled to Indonesia before the turmoil start.
